ÐÅÃËÀÌÅÍÒ ÍÀ ÊÎÍÊÓÐÑÀThe contest is open to all professional Bulgarian press photographers. The contest is annual and photographers are invited to submit their pictures taken the previous year. Entries, submitted for “Shavarsh Artin” award will be judged for their news value and on the photographer's creative skills. The purpose of the contest is to stimulate valuable photography and to continue Shavarsh Artin’s support for young photographers. Photographers must submit a maximum of five single pictures and/or five pictures part of a series. Materially altered pictures will not be accepted. The usage of image editing software should not exceed the common dark-room techniques. Collage and other similar techniques leading to the distortion of a picture are inadmissible. The pictures should be uploaded directly from the web site of the contest. Each photographer should fill-in a registration form that can be found on the web site of the contest. The pictures should be uploaded in JPEG file format, with maximum compression and resolution allowing offset printing. Each picture should be accompanied by a short caption, describing WHAT is happening, WHO is on the picture, WHERE and WHEN the picture was taken. Pictures without caption will not be accepted. All entries will be judged by photo editors of Reuters News Agency, working outside of Bulgaria. The categories are: 1. Sports photography 2. Social photography 3. Politics 4. Portrait 5. Photoessay An award of BGN500 (EUR250) is given in each category. The big award - “Prize for Photojournalism”- will go to a contestant’s entry chosen among all categories. The winner will receive a cash prize of BGN3000 (EUR1500). By signing the registration form the photographers declare they accept the terms of the contest. Awarded pictures will be published in local newspapers and on Bulfoto agency’s web site.
